5 holiday tips for your WiFi security and performance
Season's greetings! With the holiday shopping season upon us and loved ones coming over, now is a great opportunity to ensure that your WiFi network is secure and correctly configured. Feel free to reach out if you require further assistance or more detailed guidance.
Make sure you have a strong WiFI password. Give it only to people you trust. Did you set it up many years ago? It is a good idea to change it now.
Create a guest network in your router. Give its password to your guests and visitors. They will be isolated from your computers and devices.
Enable parental controls in your router. If you have children, this is a must. Modern routers make it a lot easier to set up and manage these settings.
[Advanced] Review all devices that are connected to your WiFi. Make sure your important devices (for example your work laptop) are getting high priority.
[Advanced] If you find any devices that is reporting excessive use (could be a WiFi TV that it turned on and no one is watching or a server with file sharing), you can set a lower priority or limit their bandwidth.
